My PhD

I took exactly 4 years to  finished my ph d thesis on research about school climate. I did as a part timer. Part time was 9 years and full time was 4 years. But i did it as a part timer and finished it as a full timer. Even i was invited to give talk in USM for postgraduate students. How would  this be done. Im a single breadwinner. Breadwinner means the primary, or sole, income earner in a household. Breadwinners, by contributing the largest portion of household income, generally cover all the household expenses. I could not control my emotions the moment I was told by my phd viva team chairperson that I had passed.The viva was 3 hours. For the first time in my life I cried non-stop for an  hour from the memory of the four years journey to achieve my ambition of holding a doctorate.

Im also hold a master’s degree in literature and a bachelor degree in Malay Studies.I was overcome with sadness when recalling the sacrifices I had made over the four years it took me to complete my thesis. During the entire period, I had to give up a lot, including time for myself, entertainment and friends. But i didnt give up my family, my school and my students in order to realise this dream.

I didn’t get enough sleep up to the point that I barely recognised myself but now I can rest. But i  can not take rest also because Im still doing research, reading, invigilating, marking, teaching, writing blog and most important is taking care of my children, wife and family.
