My PhD

I took exactly 4 years to  finished my ph d thesis on research about school climate. I did as a part timer. Part time was 9 years and full time was 4 years. But i did it as a part timer and finished it as a full timer. Even i was invited to give talk in USM for postgraduate students. How would  this be done. Im a single breadwinner. Breadwinner means the primary, or sole, income earner in a household. Breadwinners, by contributing the largest portion of household income, generally cover all the household expenses. I could not control my emotions the moment I was told by my phd viva team chairperson that I had passed.The viva was 3 hours. For the first time in my life I cried non-stop for an  hour from the memory of the four years journey to achieve my ambition of holding a doctorate.

Im also hold a master’s degree in literature and a bachelor degree in Malay Studies.I was overcome with sadness when recalling the sacrifices I had made over the four years it took me to complete my thesis. During the entire period, I had to give up a lot, including time for myself, entertainment and friends. But i didnt give up my family, my school and my students in order to realise this dream.

I didn’t get enough sleep up to the point that I barely recognised myself but now I can rest. But i  can not take rest also because Im still doing research, reading, invigilating, marking, teaching, writing blog and most important is taking care of my children, wife and family.

My History

Many people didnt know my history. I was from small rubber estate where no electricity and no proper pipe water. I was studying in tamil school in the estate. My school had no extra learning aids and the teachers 100% depend on the tamil text book. My science, mathematics, geography, history all in Tamil. I was sent to malay medium in secondary school because last time if you want to enter English medium you have to pay rm12.00 every month. My mother was a rubber tapper. I had no father. Only my mom was working. She couldnt pay that huge amount. One day my mother cried to me and asked to me to go malay medium. With a heavy heart i entered malay medium. .When i went to malay medium secondary school, then only i started to study a lot of stuff. Include living skills. I became bm language champion when i was in form one . I won essay writting first place and became malay debator when i was in form three. When i was in form five i was a overall winner or johan for malay speech competition at district level. When i was in teachers training college  i was champion for tamil debate. Then later in university malaya I was chosen as a good debator and good article writer in BM at uni residential college level. I was first indian offered malay writing course in UM and only non malay who attended BM STPM course in Kedah. I was the first person from my estate tamil school became a teacher and uni graduate. I was the first person from my estate hold masters and doctrate. Now god blessed me every thing. At least i can become a BM teacher who had my research on malay linguistics and malay literature. Kerana BM saya cari makan sekarang. Kita hanya merancang Tuhan yang menentukan. Betapa indah dan bermaknanya ungkapan iniThe moral of the story is we can achieve what we want. Environment and poverty are not the hurdles to achieve our ambitions. Consider my tips here as a guide and challenge in your life too. God will  bless everyone's tireless effort and hardworking

Strategi Blue Ocean Dalam Pelajaran

Salam semua,di sini  hamba ingin berkongsi sedikit maklumat tentang satu konsep dalam strategi perniagaan. Ia dinamakan konsep Blue Ocean Strategy atau BOS.Mungkin ada yang telah tahu atau membaca buku ini tetapi hamba ingin memberikan sedikit info dan ringkasan mengenainya. Untuk berjaya dalam perniagaan perlu ada konsep atau arah tuju.Bercakap tentang konsep perniagaan, ramai yang menyentuh konsep Blue Ocean Strategy atau singkatannya BOS.Ia merupakan konsep yang pertama kali di perkenalkan oleh W.Chan Kim dan Renee Maurborgne yang tiba-tiba menjad popular dalam kalangan usahawan dunia dengan sebuah buku tulisan mereka.

Buku ini berusaha menjelaskan cara mencipta ruang pasaran baru tanpa pesaing dan tanpa kalangan pesaing yang tidak relevan.Buku ini juga menunjukkan jalan,bahawa sau-satunya cara untuk memenangkan pesaing adalah berhenti berusaha melawan pesaing. Kim dan Renee mendedahkan bahawa pasaran diantara dua laut iaitu Laut Merah dan Laut Biru.Laut Merah adalah pasaran yang sudah sesak,akibatnya keuntungan dan pertumbuhan akan berkurang.

Sebaliknya Laut Biru dikuasai oleh pasaran yang belum dijelajahi,menciptakan permintaan baru dan peluang pertumbuhan yang sangat menguntungkan.Dalam Laut Biru pesaing tidak lagi relevan kerana aturan mainnya sama sekali baru.Dalam buku Change!,Rhenald Kasali memperkatakan,pemimpin pasaran menentukan aturan permainan dalam pasaran yang sama sekali baru.

Pelajar-pelajar sila terapkan konsep ini dalam peperiksaan anda. Laut merah ialah rakan rakan anda yg sentiasa memberikan persaingan kpd anda. Anggapkan mereka sebagai tidak relevan. Jadi lupakan mereka. Fikirkan laut biru iaitu fikirkan apakah inovasi atau pembaharuan yg boleh anda lakukan spt fikirkan teknik ulangkaji yg lebih mantap atau fikirkan teknik menghafal nota yg lebih agresif. Jgn lagi asyik fikirkan kawan itu pandai  dan kawan ini bijak. Jgn fikirkan mereka. Anda fikirkan ttg diri anda sahaja. Bagaimana boleh dapatkan result yg lebih baik. Oleh itu anda perlu ada kreativiti, inovasi dan produktiviti. All the best, try the best and be the best.
